FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Veteran APBA Super Cat offshore racers Billy Mauff and Joey Imprescia piloted WHM Motorsports, a 40-foot Skater catamaran powered by twin
Mercury Racing Super Cat race engines, to win the Marathon Offshore Gran Prix May 19 in Marathon, Fla. Mauff and Imprescia worked their way through traffic to capture a one-second victory over 2001 APBA Super Cat National and World Champion, Drambuie On Ice.

WHM Motorsports averaged 90.99 mph to win the event. Driver Todd Klindworth and throttleman Tres Martin averaged 90.33 mph to place third in their 38-foot MTI cat, Team Virgin.

Super Vee Results

Media Master, a 37-foot Outerlimits hull piloted by Matt Beck with Greg Quirk on the sticks, won the Super Vee division race. The boat averaged 78.60 mph to win. International Offshore, piloted by Craig Archer and Nigel Hook, placed second. Nick Carter Racing, a 43-foot Fountain hull piloted Dr. Steven Oropeza with Lee Murray on the sticks, took third.

Super Cat Light Inboard

Jerry Sorrentino and Joey Gratton piloted their 36-foot Skater, In-M-Ocean, to win the Super Cat Light Inboard event. The twin Mercury Racing HP500 EFI engine powered 36-foot Skater hull averaged 84.58 mph to capture the checkered flag. Eliminator, driven by Bob Leach with Tom Brunner on the throttles, averaged 83.28 mph to place second. Dirty Duck finished third.

Factory 1 Results

Bob Spitulski and Scott McCormick in Velocity VR1, a 28-foot Velocity V-bottom, averaged 74.96 mph to win the Factory 1 event. Typhoon Racing,' a 26-foot Kryptonite model piloted by Glenn Murray and Randy Schleuss, placed second. Offshore Addiction finished third.

Factory 2 Results

Harwich Concrete Block / Pier 57, a 35-foot Fountain, won the Factory 2 event. The new Team Donzi,' piloted by Douglas Valentine and Juan Santiago placed second. R&S Offshore Racing finished third.

Round three of the 10-race 2002 APBA Offshore Pro Series presented by Mercury Racing is the Cape Cod Rendezvous June 7-9 in Yarmouth, Mass.
